2015 Past President’s Heritage Scholarship Announcement
Following the 2014– 2015 high school academic year, the Past President’s Heritage Scholarship will be available to three outstanding high school seniors of Scottish descent, who are entering his or her freshman year of college in the fall of 2015, and who will be attending any accredited four-year undergraduate college or university in the U.S. or Scotland.
Applicants must be a resident of: Baltimore City or County; or Anne Arundel, Carroll, Harford, or Howard County; or be sponsored by a member of the St. Andrew’s Society of Baltimore, regardless of place of residence.
This Scholarship, in the amount of $2,500 to the first place winner, $1,500 to the second place winner, and $1,000 to the third place winner, will be awarded by the Society in June, 2015 to high school graduates entering their freshman year of college who have demonstrated scholarship, leadership, citizenship, Scottish heritage, and financial need. The respective total Scholarship amounts will be disbursed in two installments: (1) one-half in late summer, 2015 (subject to our receipt of your final high school transcript and a copy of your college tuition invoice for the Fall 2015 Semester); and (2) one-half in early 2016 (subject to our receipt of your first semester college transcript and a copy of your college tuition invoice for the Spring 2016 Semester).
Currently, outstanding students are benefiting from prior Past Presidents’ Heritage Scholarship awards at colleges and universities throughout the country and in Scotland.
Competition for this scholarship involves: (1) the completion and timely submission by March 15, 2015 of a written Application (with attachments), which can be downloaded from the Society website under Scholarship Information; (2) a review of your Application (including attachments) by the Benevolence Committee of the Society (currently composed of six experienced Society members); and (3) an interview with the Committee of the top three finalists in late May or early June, 2015.
